About the course

The online classroom course will be delivered over five consecutive days with a live trainer. You will be able to participate in the course in real time and interact with your trainer and other learners. Same as Face-to-Face training.

The learners and trainer will connect via Zoom – It is simple and straightforward. You will have full access to this interactive session, which means that all the tutoring and case studies are completed online. You will also get access to download training materials and the RDSAP software to produce EPC.

Pre-Qualifications

There are no pre-qualifications to attend this course. However the activity involves collecting data by surveying homes and any previous surveying, housing or building experience would be an advantage.

It is recommended to have a basic IT knowledge and access to a computer, iPad and/or an iPhone to access and use the software and complete the portfolio.

A basic understanding of maths and ability to calculate simple equations and to compose simple questionnaires and letters to a potential customer.

Course format:

5 days online

  • induction covering the legislative background, an introduction to the RdSAP methodology and details of how to assemble the Portfolio of Evidence.
  • RdSAP training covering the conventions for collecting data and how to enter data into software and iPad software. This includes determining the age of a dwelling, recognising the construction and insulation of the main elements and identifying the heating and hot water systems and heating controls.

Course Duration

The course duration is 5 days online with a trainer and further self-study is required to complete the test properties and portfolio. Candidates are given 9 months to complete the portfolio.

This is a Level 3 Qualification (6361-01) that City & Guilds has accredited. A Level 3 Certificate in Domestic Energy Assessment (6361-01) from City & Guilds will be given to the student upon successful completion of the course.
